Missy is the founder and director of Hidden Valley Preschool. She is devoted to supporting her teaching staff, communicating with the preschool parents, and providing a safe, organized and clean learning environment. It is important to her to have a non-toxic school and to teach the children about healthy food choices by providing organic, healthy snacks.

As a lifelong Duluth resident, Missy attended the University of MN-Duluth and received her Bachelor’s in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, she worked as a preschool teacher at University Nursery School. The state of Minnesota considered Missy a licensed early childhood teacher having spent over 10,000 hours working with children at previous jobs, including the director and coach at Twin Ports Gymnastics, a coach at The Gymnastics Academy, the head coach for the Superior High School gymnastics team, and the director at the Duluth Heights Community Club.

Missy’s husband, Dan, is also involved in education and has taught high school math in Superior for the past 17 years. They have been married for 14 years and have a 12 year old daughter, Liv, and an 11 year old son, Grant, who love to play sports. When she’s not watching sports, she enjoys spending time with her family at their cabin.

Hidden Valley Preschool has become far more than Missy ever imagined. It is a special place where 3 teachers work together to provide the most caring, fun, and educational environment possible to 14 children. It is her dream job with her “dream team” of teachers and she loves challenging herself to make the school better year after year.
